Víkingur Ólafsson's new single, J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988: Var. 13, is wonderful.

It took me some time to adapt to #VíkingurÓlafsson's #piano style, but once I did I understood his wonderful aptitude. I only have a small handful of his albums, but I do intend to get more.

Highly recommend. A+++

I was fortunate enough to find #GlennGould's Music From #KurtVonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five in a used records bin in the 90s. It is still one my favorite soundtracks. Gould plays #piano on every track except one. It has been forever since I have seen the movie, or read the book for that matter. It was a stroke of brilliance to have a #JSBach soundtrack with this film.

Es gibt 6 Cello Suiten von #JSBach BITCH, insgesammt 36 Stücke. Traurig viele Leuz erkennen nur eins souverän: Suite 1, Nr. 1 Præludium (Vor-Spiel, im Sinne von »jemanden etwas vorspielen, sich einspielen« … im weitesten Sinne »hochtechnische Fingerübung zum Auflockern«) in C Dur.
Hier der Kussäng aus Suite 6, Nr.1 ebenfalls Præludium, aber in fetzigem D Moll. Trippig wie Sau.
Und bin nach 40 Jahren immer noch loyaler Verehrer der #PierreFournier-Einspielung AUS DEN 60s!

Heimweg nach Dienst. Ein paar Häuser vor meiner Wohnung hört jemand um 23:30 im dritten Stock die Cello-Suiten von Johann Sebastian, noch dazu eine schöne knarzige Aufnahme, die rattert und kratzt … wie es sich gehört.

A really wonderful interview with Hilary Hahn in which she discusses her relationship with, and marks the occasion of, 100 years of Ysaÿe's sonatas. It is no surprise that Hahn discusses #Bach to some extent in this interview. Of course, Hahn doesn't need to pitch her new album, and doesn't. The entire violin world is aware!

Gestern jährte sich der 300. Jahrestag des Dienstantritts Johann Sebastian Bachs als Thomaskantor. Bach war damals nur zweite oder gar dritte Wahl, was wäre, wenn es ein anderer geworden wäre?

@davidramirer Ecke Musik-Literatur ohne #JSBach taugt ja wohl nix.

#Film: Vorgestern versucht »The Fablemans« von Steven Spielberg zu gucken, fand den aber nach 10 Minuten aufdringlich frohgemut. Gestern dann mit anderer Stimmung versucht und ganz bezaubert worden. Ich kann mit Spielberg, auch wenn er wohlfühllieb mit Zuckerguss hantiert (außer »Hook«, der traumatisiert mich bis heute).

So viele dolle Rollen für dolle Darsteller. Supergeil für mich freilich wie ein Stück von #JSBach sehr prominent das dramatische Herz des Films begleitet.
