And when you look at #Neopets' history, you realize not much really happened to it, big-picture wise. Beyond hosting the servers, #JumpStart appeared to have never really done anything with it. Their latest fuck up is the whole #NFTScams that is the crypto nft "game" they're developing.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes. I get the feeling they knew they dragged their name through the mud. Their website lacked any mention of what they did with Neopets. Only mentioned #edutainment stuff.

So what's the mess with KA? Well... The biggest one anyone could point at is #Neopets. I remember when Viacom (now Paramount) sold it. Guess who bought it? #JumpStart. And they kept hosting it to this day. KA the company was bought by NetDragon in 2017, who has been their parent company until KA folded a few days ago. But before that in 1997, KA became part of the software division CUC International, who also owned Davidson & Associates, Sierra Online, and Blizzard Entertainment (WTF?).

And from what I could understand so far, it's kind of a mess. They are probably most well known for their JumpStart series games. But they were also known as Knowledge Adventure. Have you ever checked out their #DOS games? They actually have quite a few of them, and they work in DosBox.

Lately I've been playing some of the old #JumpStart games. Mainly the 1998 edition of JS Kindergarten. And I have to say, I really adore Mr. Hopsalot. He's cuter with this design than the 1994 design, and of course Tony Pope's voice for him is friggin perfect. Then I find out Kindergarten Reading exists and we get to see some of his family. It's adorable.

Did you know he was redesigned to be a completely different character later? I didn't learn this until recently.

In a few weeks, I bet #Doonesbury will make some metacognitive joke about #Dilbert author Scott Adams' antics and ceased syndications. It's a pretty progressive strip that mentions stuff about other strips and pop culture. There may be more allusions too. I could see #GetFuzzy, #NonSequitur, #JumpStart etc making allusions to it too. "Hey, did you hear about the cartoonist who got his strip pulled from the papers?"
