still mystified by the prices of some Junk Journals - sure, they are laborious and elaborate and some are asking in excess of $600!
They are very pretty but don't seem very useful to me.
Maybe I am missing something. 🤔

until a few days ago I had never even heard of Junk Journals. Bought a mystery box of JJ supplies on Etsy because I wanted to challenge my creativity a bit and only after the purchase I actually looked up what JJ are. Can't quite get my head around them, so cluttered with too many bits an pieces to be useful for actual journalling. But some are really beautiful to look at no less.
The mystery box will definitely come in handy and offer lots of interesting things to do with but I can't see myself breaking into the #JunkJournal scene.

I'm unhappy and wary about uploading my #tarot notes and observations to Google Docs or Notion, both of whom implement AI and are not end-to-end encrypted, and it's been on my mind for a few days.

Today my cards prompted me to return to handwritten journaling via a mix of #JunkJournal and tarot notes. Junk journaling and #Collage had given me joy and kept me sane in 2020-21. I want to do it again.

It's funny, I've personally changed so much since 2020-21, but I do still love making art.

I'm working on knitting a scarf.
I'm working on a steam-punky junk journal that might fit my "Blades in the Dark" character. Hoping to try transferring some images onto tea bags to make grungy visuals for it and tone it down a bit.
In the kitchen I'm making gravlax.
And this weekend I hope to try some cyanotype printing if it's sunny enough.

In the interest of continuing to try to finish projects, I finally completed my Christmas/New Year's junk travel journal. I can only share a few photos of it! The page with the tea bag wrappers smells delicious (because of all the cinnamon/glögg/and other wonderful flavors). What an unexpected perk!
It's made from scraps from travel brochures, gift wrapping paper, an old handbag and necklace, magazine pages, books, gelli prints, packaging, tags, etc.

I'm not certain about the new JJs, but that pretty stuff is irresistible.

I took some time to try to embroider a bit on this old handbag turned into a book cover. The star on it is from an old necklace.
I'm thinking whether I should do more snowflakes or if is cuter like this.

Received my very first post card today through #PostCrossing, which I discovered via the hashtag, here on Mastodon. So excited! I will be using all received as part of a very special #journal #JunkJournal series. This one came from Japan. ❤️ The first ones I sent went to Germany and Luxembourg.

I challenged myself this December to journal with Polaroids every day. This is a page before I glued everything down. I like to shuffle pieces around until I’m happy, then take a photo for reference. I've never done a #JunkJournal before, and this is experimental, but as I'm going through my stuff for the move, I'm finding things that are interesting and seem to fit, so I'm throwing it onto this page. Still a #wip, layering more stuff on as I find it. When it's all stuck down and the glue dries, I'll put watercolor ground on and paint on it. Or I dunno, blend the lines some.
