@peter @fenarinarsa a friend of mine still has the one he bought back in 1986. he recently "bootstrapped" the machine by using an official macOS tool that plays back tape files via the soundcard and into the IIc using a special cable.

I like the appearance of those compact computers, that's why I also have a soft spot for the early #Sinclair machines as well as for the #JupiterACE and the french #Alice computer (first version).

I spent a bit of time playing Valkyr this evening, and recorded my efforts.

This is the version from Geroge Beckett with fixes for the Minstrel 4th and RC2014 YM2140 sound card addressing.

This is a slightly loaded Minstrel 4th with a Jester Ace SD reader, Shiela Dixon's USB/serial keyboard interface, the RC2014 YM2149 sound card and Tynemouth Software's Boldfield compatible joystick card all attached via a RC2014 Backplane 5.

All cards used in loading and playing the game.

It's interesting that everything apart from the YM2149 is now standard on the Minstrel 4D Turbo.

Adding joystick support to the Frogger game for the #JupiterAce that I wrote back in 1984. Now it runs on the #Minstrel4D! (Masking tape covers the reset buttons that I have accidentally pressed way too many times - might need to remove them, it’s a bit of a UX design flaw)

Final step would be to make a nice copyright infringing logo with the cricut. #jupiterace #minstrel4d #forth
