Aan de Jurassic Coast in Zuid-Engeland is het fossiel van een onbekende zeekrokodillensoort gevonden. Deze zogenoemde Turnersuchus hingleyae is volgens onderzoekers een van de oudste soorten ooit. Het dier leefde minstens 200 miljoen jaar geleden.

I really miss our Portland adventure. We had a house there for about 3 years until recently. So, for #fossilfriday I can’t post any from my collection as my daughter’s best friend has taken them all into the class of 10 year olds that she teaches to give them an end-of-term treat today as part of their unit on Evolution by letting them handle some real fossils. So here’s some I couldn’t bring home - from Lyme Bay on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast that I found on the beach a few years ago #geology #fossils #jurassiccoast

We were going to be here again for sunrise, but sunrise was utterly disappointing so I was glad to have walked here the evening before!
