Was very much looking forward to my first ever jury service.
It turned out to be a bit of a let down though as it consisted of calling the juror update line every evening from Sunday through to Wednesday evening, to be repeatedly told not to come to court but call again next evening; and on the Wednesday be told that my citation has ended without me setting foot in a court room.

...and now I've been discharged from jury service, and don't have to go back next week.

Well, that went well. Didn't see a courtroom. Only saw one person in a funny wig, briefly. Amount of justice done? Zero.

Turns out something DID happen. The case got resolved without needing a jury! And so I'm done for the week, without having actually done anything at all.

Back next week to try again, but for now I'm celebrating my freedom with a double-bill at the cinema. The Menu was a darkly funny good time, now waiting for She Said.

Day three. Apparently the judge is "adamant" that something will happen today. But it's still not entirely confirmed whether this something will involve me. If I get out of the waiting room, I'll be happy.

Oh it's time to share some background for the "Jen's improbable number of coincidental family jury calls" story, so that you all understand why I'm very interested in my mailbox right now...

In Oct 2016 my brother was called. He wasn't eligible as he was in college, but when we discussed it, I talked about how I thought I was still ineligible to be called because I had been called a few years previous and the exclusion was 7 years. I was wrong about that.

Starting Jury Service today. Currently sitting at about 40% intrigued, 60% anxious. That percentage will hopefully improve once I've figured out the commute? I'm accustomed to never leaving the house, dammit!

Anyway, keep following for precisely no further details of the case because if I tell you anything they'll put me in the stocks and throw rotten fruit at me.

Jury service today. I both think this is important to do and really wish i didn't have to do it. The only proper contact I have with people is thru work so I've basically been in lockdown for coming up 3 years now. Not sure I can do real people this intensively. Got lunch packed. Probably can't take my knitting.
