Skipped out on attending the vigil for #CassiusTurvey today as I have cold symptoms.

Saw some vigil pics and disappointed to see how many people are unmasked, especially as most are settlers. We really don't need to be continuing biological warfare on First Nations people at a vigil.

Tried but couldn't make it to the local #JusticeForCassiusTurvey vigil. My heart goes out to his family and friends mourning a life stolen.

I truly hope this is a turning point for this racist colony. Pessimistic though.

Thank you for all who came out and stood, marched, spoke. I’ve been too sick to go out, but events like this can’t be ignored, the only power that can outmatch systems is a lot of people.

There’s nothing that can bring the lost back, but we can give a bit our selves we may be able to prevent the loss of more folks.

It's shameful that the Australian mastodon site has barely any mention of this recent incident of racialised-violence, or showing support for First Nations people as they grieve the loss of young Cassius. #JusticeForCassiusTurvey has a handful of posts.

The bird site does much better at supporting First Nations people. So stop hiding behind your white CWs. Get angry. Stand up. Attend a vigil. Support mob.

With respect to his family and community, I'm sharing the details of the vigils for Cassius Turvey being held across so-called Australia. If you aren't in Australia, or can't make it to a vigil, please keep Cassius, his family, school peers, and community in your thoughts.

If you aren't in Australia, or have been living under a rock, Cassius was a 15 year old Aboriginal boy, a much loved member of the Noongar community (Perth, Western Australia). In October, he was walking home from school when he and his friends were brutally assaulted by a stranger (white man), while this man's friends yelled racial abuse at them. Cassius passed away a few weeks later.

In Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people are still being murdered by racists settlers. I will not pander to white pearl clutchers who demand we hide our grief, anger, and calls for justice behind CWs.
