La manifestation contre les brutalités policière s'est tenue mercredi dans une ambiance déterminée et combattive. La marche à débuté par deux discours dénonçant notamment les nouvelles réformes du gouvernement et le récent meurtre de Nicous Spring par les screws de la prison de Bordeaux.

Le groupe a ensuite emprunté l'avenue Sherbrooke en déplaçant du mobilier urbain pour ralentir les flics qui étaient venus en force. Une agence de la RBC à été prise pour cible et des graffs ont commencé à apparaître le long des trottoirs.

Au bout d'un certain temps la présence policière s'est fait plus insistante et les camarades ont tenté de tenir les côtés. Les forces anti-émeutes sont donc venus tenter d'encadrer la manifestation alors que les camions du SPVM annonçaient que la manifestation était illégale, dans l'indifférence générale.

La manifestation a bifurqué à plusieurs reprises avant de revenir sur Sherbrooke, passant même à travers une ligne de policier. Les tensions sur les trottoirs se sont renforcés pendant toute la fin du trajet, occassionnant des bousculades et brimades de la part des flics. Une autre banque a aussi été prise pour cible.

La manifestation s'est ensuite rendu jusqu'au métro Vendôme et la dispersion à commencé à s'effectuer. Des groupes de manifestant.es ont été suivi.es jusque dans le métro. Les anti-émeutes allant même jusqu'à faire une ligne sur le quai de la station berri-uqam, pour une raison qui nous échappe encore.

Quelques erreurs tactiques ont été commises et des comportements désagréables de la part de certain.es camarades doivent être relevés mais c'est une discussion pour un autre moment.

Dans l'ensemble, l'atmosphère était dynamique et les gens motivés. Le pari de faire une manifestation dans ce quartier à permis de faire venir un certain nombre de personnes qui ne viennent traditionnellement pas à cette manifestation : notamment des habitant.es du quartier choqué.es par l'assassinat de Nicous Spring.

Nicous D'Andre Spring, a 21 year-old Black man, was a brother, son, friend and mentor; he was an artist and poet; he was active in community spaces like West Haven, YMCA-NDG TeenZone, J2K, and the Rec. This past December, despite being illegally detained, Nicous was brutally attacked by prison guards at the Montreal Detention Center (Bordeaux); he died from his injuries on Christmas Eve. prime minister legault is really playing with fire. I've done way, way, way too many vigils for murdered black kids, and the crowd is getting more and more restless.

community leaders keep reminding people of MLK (and never Malcom X and the Black Panthers of course) to calm things down but i feel like the kids are listening less and less. they're itching for a fight: anything's better than waiting to be slaughtered.

remember that for every black kid killed, there's a dozen imprisoned on trumped up charges, a hundred arrested for no reason, a thousand harassed on a daily basis...

our leaders prides themselves that the George Floyd protests weren't so intense here, but we're really standing knee-deep in gasoline here and our fucking police are throwing lit matches at each other.

Justice For Nicous! More than one-hundred friends, family and supporters gathered in Benny Park in NDG (Montréal) earlier this evening to grieve and remember Nicous D'Andre Spring, 21. Nicous died on Christmas Day after being pepper-sprayed and injured by prison guards at the Montreal Detention Center (Bordeaux) on Christmas Eve. When Nicous was attacked by prison guards, he was being illegally detained since he should have been already released on bail. Nicous was an aspiring rapper with the performer name YK Lyrical. Between tears and crying at tonite's vigil, family members and friends remembered Nicous fondly, but also with defiance. In the words of Nicous' sister, Sarafina: "This is not going to go down like this.
