Now that I have SyncThing working, I'm going to use the standard user 'Public' folder for something on all my devices!

:blobcattableflip:

Právě jsem viděla v gnome terminálu nastavení "povolit horké klávesy". Nemají hotkeys ustálený překlad něco jako "klávesy rychlé volby"? #JustLinuxThings
I meant to switch to Wayland when it becomes less buggy. Ended up switching because X11 got more buggy. ❤️ #JustLinuxThings
Finally some progress:

On my Surface Pro 7 since kernel 5.17 my external monitors attached to a Microsoft Dock 2 had issues, not turning on during boot, or Ethernet not working when attached later.

I'm currently having kernel and package woes :/
If you want to have your custom mouse cursor theme also apply in apps installed via Discover on the #SteamDeck when running in desktop mode:
flatpak --user override --filesystem=/home/$USER/.icons/:ro
E.g. Firefox and Chrome will show different icons otherwise

Ah, Debian. Got everything installed, fought with getting proper Nvidia drivers installed for an hour (nouveau isn't proper, yes that's Nvidia's fault, but I still want drivers that *work*).
A little longer getting some applications setup, then throw on a video for while I eat dinner and...full screen video is just black.
Turns out it doesn't like that I told the display compositor to use OpenGL 3.1 and it didn't like that. Setting it to XRender fixed that (and also the screen tearing that was happening with OpenGL 2.0).
So it seems that my old laptop's HDMI port does not work on NixOS with open source drivers and Gnome on X11, but it does with Gnome on Wayland with no changes to config or w/e.

Pro tip: make sure you add the "nofail" param to any network mounts in your fstab.
Otherwise, you'll be like me and waste an evening recompiling nvidia drivers on your #archlinux install :)
Sample mount:
1.2.3.4:/mnt/server1 /mnt/share1 nfs defaults,nofail,noatime 0 0
lol somehow the #gnome desktop environment got uninstalled on my laptop and I had to reinstall it from a purely command line environment. I guess that’s just to be expected from using the testing branch on Debian? #JustLinuxThings
So yeah, got the #Pi Zero 2W, using it as a nfs file server right now. Running great and the performance enhancements are wonderful.
Also setup #opensuse tumbleweed, and trying out #fedora kinoite on another machine. At first I was skeptical of using so many flatpaks in-place of most regular applications, but it's sold me on it. I still don't believe flatpaks are as good as FreeBSD's jails(Thanks Michael W. Lucas for educating me about them btw), but they're decent enough. I thought I would have lot of trouble with paths, because I remember trying out the #zandronum flatpak for #doom and how you needed to put the WAD files in a specific directory in the flatpak root. So I tried the #emacs flatpak and it ran just fine and saw my normal home directory path. Maybe it's a permissions thing? #justlinuxthings
My first Linux distro was SUSE, so I think I'll be staying with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed until their MicroOS? Whatever version of theirs mirrors Fedora Kinoite gets more stable and can be used as a daily driver.

#JustLinuxThings: today I have lost ~5 minutes trying to understand why my sound suddenly stopped working. It turns out that the PS4 controller I pluged to my USB port for charging was the culprit.
