I know there are a few of you out there still using Twitter, or at least retaining your accounts there. That's fine, but I know that after I deleted private messages, downloaded all my tweets, and left the account in place for another month or so pointing here, I did finally disable the account and it is now gone.
Two reasons. First, anyone could pay money and get a blue checkmark, posing as me (and there was little to nothing I could do about it) so the excuse of "fighting impersonation" didn't make sense. Second, it counted as an account on the site, as in by having the account there it was an endorsement of Musk and his policies there.
I thought it would be painful to give up thousands of followers, but it wasn't. I have a fraction of the followers here but much better interactions (particularly with #infosec), no ads, and hell of a lot less noise - much more signal.
