X window managers, the light versions.
I like IceWM that is used as default X manger for Antix :)

#Fluxbox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluxbox
#OpenBox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openbox
#JWM https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JWM

I found these and seem a more complete solution than #Ratpoison or #StumpWM that are too much spartan. #linux
#Linux #stumpwm #ratpoison #jwm #openbox #fluxbox #icewm

i updated some of the window sizes and positions in my JWM config.. ..this is my favorite floating window manager

Independent Distro 4MLinux 42 Released with #Linux Kernel 6.1 LTS, #XMMS as Default Media Player https://9to5linux.com/independent-distro-4mlinux-42-released-with-linux-kernel-6-1-lts
using joe's window manger (#jwm)
most of mate was purged from the system
xfe is file manager
kitty is the terminal
jgmenu is the launcher
(functionally like windows 95 start menu)
qmplay2 is the music/video player
Been tinkering my ThEmE
i cleaned up the formatting in the autostart and autolock sections of my #jwm config
And well, I have not measured #JWM in terms of RAM yet, but I doubt that it "bloated" since then.
Worth contemplating too is when full DEs loaded with less than 100MB upon boot. I remember clocking Xfce at 93MB just after login back in #Debian Jessie. Today, I think even Alpine takes more (when running X, of course)
Yes thats how i found life after Gnome for my personal machines, I went more minimal and now use #JWM
tbh i spend most of my time looking for colour combos for the motif theme.
i have not come across much documentation re theming #jwm but it's on the todo list.
