Taking a break from #KaguyaHime, will probably finish it later in Japanese. It's a fun manga, although I'm not 100% pleased with the harem elements of the story, especially in the latter half. They make sense, I guess, and they're closely tied to the central sci-fi plot, but... I dunno, some of them just don't seem to have enough emotional weight.

I'm at volume 10 of #KaguyaHime, and wow, so many things have happened already. Old shoujo used to be wild (though to be fair, I don't know much about modern shoujo because I don't follow any magazines). Shimizu's ideas about Chinese tycoons and Thai royalty are really Out There™, but at least the plot is never boring.

Reading #KaguyaHime, an epic sci-fi shoujo manga by Shimizu Reiko. It's super fun so far, with a big cast of interesting characters, although some of Shimizu's ideas regarding gender and sexuality feel a bit... well, dated? I mean, it makes sense, seeing how it's not exactly new, but.
