I love Kaito's character. He wasn't very intelligent, but had a big impact on the plot and, what's the most important, the protagonist. When he punched Shuichi just to next day come, apologize and become his closest friend, always giving him a hand (not counting trial 4 when he was trying to mislead him because of his strong believe in Gonta and hatred towards Kokichi). What's great in Kaito and Shuichi is the fact that they could work both as best friends and a romantic couple (with Kaito not being this smart to notice Shuichi's feelings at first).

1. Kaito – Shuichi's best friend and crush
2. Kokichi – has a crush on Shuichi and is jealous af
3. Rantaro – close friendship, wants Shuichi to solve his case of missing sisters
And Shuichi doesn't want them fighting over him because they're all close to him.
