A few more photos of my new #Kaladin #costume from last weekend at #oconexpo. I definitely want to add and improve a couple things before getting a proper photo shoot done, maybe at #DragonCon or after.

Last #WIPWednesday before I leave for #OConExpo next week. I am making this bare-bones waistcoat to go under the coat, and it's now done apart from buttons and buttonholes. I might have a chance to finish it tonight, but more likely tomorrow since I have a substantial mid-week run to do tonight. #Cosplay #Kaladin #StormlightArchive

New #kaladin mirror selfie, with latest costume updates. Custom buttons are finished and sewn in place. I bought white pants, and I'll be wearing them with this costume at least for the next con, until I can make my own. I'm borrowing the belt from my Prince Caspian costume, with the intention of eventually replacing the buckle with something hand-made that references the #stormlight universe. Last costume piece I'm making is a waistcoat, which should be finished this weekend.

I finished making the buttons for my #kaladin #costume! I started by cutting the glyph out of adhesive vinyl, and using that as a mask to etch the design into aluminum. Then I cut the aluminum into disks with my scroll saw, and adhered them to blank metal buttons from Amazon. Then I hit each one with a wire brush in the rotary tool, and finally some aluminum polish.

#WIPWednesday progress on #kaladin #costume . I didn't realize how dusty my mirror was, but anyway... I got my buttonholes done, and finally got some shots wearing as much of the costume as I have ready. I will be making a vest in the next week or so, and then either making or buying white trousers/breeches, depending on how much time I have left.

Got some work done over the weekend on my coat. The glyphs on the cuffs worked out really nicely. The buttons are just pinned in place for now, trying to work out the spacing. The only thing I might still add is some white trim to the edges.

It's looking like a coat now! I still have to finish attaching the lining, and add white cuffs and maybe some more white trim. Then lots of buttonholes. I was thinking I would do them by hand, since they look so much better that way, but I am going to do them by machine to save time. I still have a vest, breeches, boots, and a belt to make before July 21.

Well Instagram let me have this post up for a few hours, and then completely disappeared it. That's a new one. Anyway, I'm making progress on my #Kaladin #costume! Ignore the wrinkles, it's linen (IYKYK). I'm mostly enjoying not having a film reference to try to match, but it's also making me second-guess myself a lot since it's all up to me.
