This week's #SundaySong is a very low-fi, low-tech rendering of The Velvet Underground's "After Hours." One take, with mistakes, recorded directly with an iPhone, 'cause I'm on vacation and this was what I could do. I started out doing this as a bass-only song, which works pretty well, but the uke chords are pretty nice, too, so that's what you get this time around.

Last night's #OpenMic was the first in a series of "auditions" for a talent contest, and hoo boy did it bring the people out! Packed house, overflow list, and a noisier atmosphere than usual but everyone was having fun. I was still experimenting with pedal effects on my solid-body #KalaUkulele – some of it sounded good, some didn't work the way I hoped, but it was much fun. People in this community are SO supportive!

Last Sunday I took my electric #ukulele and my bass pedals to a local #OpenMicNight and committed nonsense. I was *not* prepared for the compression on the system, and how gently I'd have to strum and pick, which I'm just learning to do anyway.
