Realising that there are two particular sub genres of Science Fiction I love.

One is hard sci-fi, not far in the future at all, may even live to see it, with absolute hard science.
Like The Expanse or The Martian. No 'Heisenberg compensators', though I adore Star Trek.

The other is something so far flung that it doesn't appear on our radars. Type 2 or 3 on the Kardashev Scale, like The Foundation. Humans, but so alien in society to our own.
