Enjoying the slowness of this Sunday morning to listen to the conversation between Katherine May and Marjolijn van Heemstra which echoes what I'm trying to do in the face of the climate crisis: protect spaces in my days for experiencing the wonder of the world around me (scientific communication is one approach for me), people, human creativity, choosing it consciously, despite everything.

„This life I have made is too small. It doesn’t allow enough in: enough ideas, enough beliefs, enough encounters with the exuberant of . I have been so keen to deny it, to veer deliberately towards the rational, to cling solely to the experiences that are directly observable by others. Only now, when everything is taken away, can I see what a folly this is“

My commute listen for the past week has been The Electricity of Every Living Thing by Katherine May and don’t want it to end. She has such a beautiful way with language and is so insightful and honest about her experience understanding as an adult that she is autistic. The author narrates the book and I could listen to her read all day.
