Hailing from a well-to-do family of farmers, and crowned "Reyna Elena" in her town's Santacruzan, Melchora married Fulgencio Ramos, a cabeza de barangay. The couple had 6 children. Her husband's death devastated her, but she single-handedly managed her husband's business. It was in her backyard where the Cry of #PH Revolution happened. Her son Juan Ramos was a member of the #Katipunan. She generously gave 100 bags of rice, 10 carabaos, & other supplies to the movement, believing in the cause.
Alejandrino joined the #Katipunan. Upon the outbreak of the #PH Revolution in 1896, he initiated the procurement of arms from Japan via Hong Kong. When revo leaders were voluntarily exiled to HK via Pact of Biak-na-Bato, Alejandrino welcomed them there. Upon the resumption of PH Revo vs. Spain, Alejandrino was w/ U.S. Adm. George Dewey in the Battle of Manila Bay. Soon after, he became a delegate in the Malolos Congress, provisionally representing Catanduanes through Aguinaldo's appointment.
We stopped outside Tutuban in Manila where... surprise, surprise... there's a statue of you-know-who.
Then we stopped at the sculpture of the KKK -- "Kataastaasan Kagalanggalang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan" -- or simply, #Katipunan. If you've been following along, you can guess which one in the group is #AndresBonifacio 😉
I did not* enjoy pedaling through #Manila. 😕 #bikes #bicycles

Today is #BonifacioDay, a holiday.
Supremo Andres Bonifacio, The Father of Philippine Revolution, founder of the #Katipunan (KKK means different for Filipinos, it is Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan) and also, the first president of the Philippines (some historians don’t agree). Over-all bad-ass guy.
Fellow filipinos betrayed him. And I think, that set the course of how philippine politics continue until now.
