It was originally more popular than the 3 Sisters but was shut in the 1970s due to a mine underneath collapsing. We climbed up it in the late 90s/early 00s when a lot of Katoomba ‘alternatives’ would go up there.
Today we decided to revisit it.
We spent a long time researching old maps to find the original track. Finding contemporary accounts of people who have climbed the rock in recent years, which described the state of the track and the path up to the rock.

My path crossed that of two German tourists in the #Katoomba #Aldi.
German I know; 'please', 'thank you', 'yes', 'no', numbers, and 'the shopkeeper sells milk, cheese and bread'.
German I certainly do not know:
'What are we doing here Anna? We flew for 28 goddamn hours and we're back in effing ALDI and it feels like it might snow outside! JFC!'
Maybe I should take a Babbel course?
