A few months ago we decided to pull out an old track for a show, which meant I had to relearn to breaks. Here I am playing along with the first two breaks, which were directly transcribed (with permission) from the great #DibloDibala of #soukous fame. The full studio track from our first record, "Songs in Borrowed Time," follows. I'm playing the same #Kauer Banshee custom #Firebird I used for the original track.

Relearned my guitar parts from the original, which borrows a bit from the great Soukous player Diblo Dibala, but also from the Indian Carnatic style of guitar. Took long hours of work, but in the end I may have gotten close. My fingers ain't getting no younger!
Also features the #Suhr #Stratocaster and #Kauer Banshee.

The solos also feature #DannyGotham on a #ParkerFly.

1/ #Guitar a day. 2004 #Kauer #Banshee. Some time around 2004 a friend who owned a club where we were the house band got pinched for a large amount of hash. In dire need of funds for a legal defense I brought my friend #SteveKimock down from Pennsylvania to do a benefit at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro to raise funds for legal fees. The benefit was a success and the legal case ended well, with the guy getting sentenced to a diversion program.
