#OTD 1789: ice on the #Danube broke causing severe flooding in #Linz (among other places). Maria Magdalena #Kauth responded by composing & publishing ‘Gemälde der Natur’ to raise funds for the victims. Depicting a storm, the #melodrama commemorated the flood, victims, & rescuers.
