@dotjayne last #Kawaiicon I attended in 2022 in New Zealand (#infosec con that succeeded #Kiwicon), mask wearing was mandatory and free masks and RAT tests provided thanks to support from sponsors and NZ Ministry of Health. Over 1700 people in a crowded venue. Only spreading was at side events where people unmasked.

@begrudging_recluse I went to #KawaiiCon in Wellington New Zealand, along with almost 2000 people. Organizers, all #InfoSec or cybersecurity professionals took safety seriously. Conference venue was fully masked, vaccination pass required for entry, with exemptions permitted for medical reasons. RAT tests and more masks were provided. Livestream was run for those who had to drop out. Event felt safe. Some people caught Covid at side events or during travel but AFAIK no transmission at event

Earlier today I did some 'light' reading of the NZ Cyber Threat Report for 2021/22 and was stoked that it wasn't just all gibberish to my eyes and brain. Thanks to having been at #Kawaiicon and #Chcon this year, some of the jargon was familiar as were some of the examples. #ProfessionalDevelopment for the win.

@SenseException I completely agree. I've only seen it done once before: #kawaiicon in Wellington NZ had a quiet room, which worked really well to retreat the noise and chaos.
