I've moved to suspend #Kazarma (staging.kazar.me) with a #fediblock due to it's "out out" strategy of bridging matrix and activitypub style sites.

Don't get me wrong, I've used relay services for IRC before (ie, janus, discord bots), but that was with full permission and cooperation with other server admins.

Service bridges are not inherently bad, but they can be exploited by bad actors evading silences and bans. I will not chance that with my community here.

The people that attempt to run these types of services need to realize things need to be "opt in" services- not the other way around. Do better.

Who knows something about #Kazarma ? There's a bot account, relay at staging.kazar.ma, and I'm ignorant of its purpose in following Mastodon users. Should I be suspicious?

Just got followed by a bot called @relay

Seems suspicious. The domain gives me no results aside from the follow bot, and opening the original page doesn't give me a typical Mastodon/pleroma/whatever profile, so that's no help.

Anyone have some insight what that's all about? #Kazarma
