@joeyh@hachyderm.io @gpoo @joeyh@octodon.social Ah okay maybe it's then a problem with the program invoking evince, in my case! Apparently it launches evince with the full path. Thanks for checking!

Apparently the PDF reader is one of the programs that doesn't understand symlinks. That's a pity, as I use :gitannex: to sync my bibliography which I manage with . So either I live with this, `git annex unlock` all my files or try to fix Evince myself 😅

Heh, I really like the principle of using nix-shell as a shebang. This script just launches (the bibliography editor). Helpful in a synced :gitannex: repo with multiple participants across different OSs.

The longer I am using :gitannex: , the more I want to use it for pretty much everything. Missing git-annex-backed software:

- email client
- calendar syncing
- bibliography database (kind of with
- ...

@devSJR Exactly, is awesome as a bibliography manager. The maintainer Thomas Fischer is also very approachable. I fixed a couple of things here and there in and it keeps getting better slowly but surely. 👌

I just noticed (again) how great (userbase.kde.org/KBibTeX) is. It comes with some nice feature such as a integration. Moreover, it makes it quite easy to insert references in documents when working with .

@hirnbloggade @bgcarlisle Not much academic writing here, but I usually write in Org-mode. I export to , and then finish work in + + . I sometimes use ebib.el for bibliographies, but lately I've been using for that.

For focused writing, I love mode (other people prefer mode).
