Twitter has falsely labeled NPR as “state-affiliated media.” It’s a term the platform applies to propaganda outlets in countries without a free press, a guaranteed right in the United States.
This is an attack on independent journalism, the very principle that defines public media. Twitter has since doubled down on the label, which is outrageous and further undermines the credibility of the platform.

If you hadn't heard it yet, he has his own weekly 2-hour show on #KCRW Sunday nights, can stream it on demand the following day, I think the archive goes back like 10 months (link below). I've listened to it for like 15 years now! Seen him do the spoken word thing a handful of times too, among a couple other cool events. I can't even count how many bands I'm into because of him, such a huge influence.

I think for February I’m going to attempt a mental cleanse / reset of sorts. For the rest of this month:

• I’m going to stop watching local TV news in the morning, and instead rely on #NPR / #KCRW and #LATimes.

• If I get an itch for TV News, it’s going to be only #PBSNewsHour

• Avoid political soundbites as much as I can, too much hate right now.

• Work on my #EV costs app at least two times per week

• Reach out more socially on #Mastodon for #WebDev discussions instead of Reddit

For reasons I cannot fathom, #KCRW's morning show Morning Becomes Eclectic is playing the Cheers theme song, Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart-Angelo's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name," and it's the first time I've listened to all the lyrics and realized that there's a #trans storyline in that song:
