While playing around with #kdeconnect and controlling the media player on my laptop with my phone, I noticed that some of my songs didn't have tags, just said "Unknown".
I recalled from my days running #archlinux (a decade ago), that there was a program that used #musicbrainz to automatically tag files for you based on similarity.
I rediscovered it: https://github.com/beetbox/beets
It's still maintained and it works! It even fetches album art, which is nicely displayed on my phone via #kdeconnect :]

One of my issues with #kdeconnect was that it works over WiFi and not bluetooth. Because of this, if I am at work or on a public network, I can't really pair my phone to my laptop.
After listening to @wimpy talk about #ZeroTier on @linuxmatters, however, it occurred to me... why don't I add my phone to my existing #wireguard network.
So this afternoon, I downloaded the #wireguard client from #fdroid and 30 min later, everything is working regardless of which network each device is on :]
#kdeconnect #zerotier #wireguard #fdroid
Kleiner Lob an das #KDE Team !
Hatte bisher nie so einen guten workflow zwischen #Android & #Linux
Aber #Kdeconnect ist wirklich Klasse!
Funktioniert auch von Handy zu Tablet Top!
(beides Android)
Also Danke!

When you realize that a lot of (not all) of your problems with #KDEConnect (which you complained about loudly) stem from the way you configured your VPN wrong on your phone and it was blocking incoming connections.

#KDEConnect continues to impress. You can exchange text in the copy and paste clipboard between your #Computer and #Android #mobile. Useful for opening #Websites with long URLs which happen to be on your #phone, say, in your #laptop's #browser.

I tried #KDEConnect probably in 2016, and it just wasn't there yet. How is it now? I've been thinking of trying a #KDE distro next.
@digichelle I have #KDEconnect installed on my computer and phone. It does a bunch of things, but one of my faves is the abililty to click a button on your computer to make your phone ring.
The number of times that's saved me when I'm just about to run out the door and I'm searching for my phone!..
Also KDEconnect is free and #OpenSource and #Privacy respecting unlike many alternatives.
#kdeconnect #opensource #privacy
#KDEConnect truly is amazing! I copy and pasted a RSS feed link for a podcast from my laptop to the podcast app in the phone. It just works!
Recevoir une notification de SMS sur l'écran d'ordi, cliquer sur "répondre", renvoyer un SMS depuis l'ordi.
C'est vraiment pratique #KdeConnect 🙂
NB : c'est seulement pour linux + android, je pense.
I can copy an URL on my iPhone, then send that through #KDEConnect to my #Debian 12-notebook, and paste that into a browser.
Not as comfortable as air drop sharing a web url on macOS, but quite usable.
Finally got #KDEConnect working *fairly* reliably now that I switched from the wireguard vpn app (using mullvad settings) to the actual mullvad app, which is kinder to local network connections.
Pity the mullvad app eats batteries for breakfast.
@juliewebgirl Laptop/Tablet/Phone all know each other #Bluetooth *AND* #KDEConnect and the reason for this is my boxen bight Not be conveniently on the same network.
Caveats I just thought of, if you have a cable and "tether" you're fine. Technically since our phone is your "router" they are on the same network. That works good.
But I'm a lazy fucking SysAdmin so "just work nowwwwww" and cables are faster to be sure but you know my laptop bag...I don't *waaaaant* to go diggin' in cables.

@juliewebgirl Since you brought up #KDEConnect I thought I'd talk about it while waiting for me tea.
So important thing is that it only works when all the machines are on the same subnet (your home or office WiFi, does not work at Starbucks where they *Correctly* segment devices...No more packet sniffing).
It defaults to $HOME/Download but you can change it.

I am very much liking this new setup. #CalyxOS with lots of open software via F-Droid, microG and Aurora for the few things I can't live without, and the lovely #Pixel7a.
My sole consternations are Google Maps (though I'm tempted to give Organic Maps a proper go) and Google Wallet. My solution for the latter is a stick on card holder on the back in which I'll stick a Curve card.
#KDEConnect is new for me too, and absolutely wonderful in combination with #SyncThing.

#KDEConnect is my new favourite thing. Magic phone integration from any operating system and environment!
...
I'd also like to try #PostmarketOS and #SXMO
Man, I just want to be able to ssh into my phone and send texts. I love the idea of #KDEConnect, but I can *never* get it to work. It just chokes on my 800MB SMS database ;)
