If I had faith in backup apps, and if I had a complex setup, I might. But I don't, twice. Booting up today was different: no grub menu [yay], but getting stuck at the "F10 for boot menu" screen again. Hitting F10 produced some error messages (no idea what: they go by too fast, and they're sideways, since the boot process and logon screen don't honor my portrait preference), and then went on as normal.
So no sleeping two hours late again tomorrow. Tonight I'll make sure my various files and configs are backed up, then tomorrow I'll put in the backup M.2 drive, wipe it, and reinstall Linux Mint. I'll add my seven apps¹, and then take a couple of hours importing configs and changing Linux Mint settings based on my detailed setup text file.
This probably takes longer than restoring from Timeshift, but I'm involved and aware of each step.
