Keen to kick the tyres on the next wave of KDE software? If so, check out a revamped experimental archive KDE neon developers recently announced. Unstable builds of the Ubuntu-based KDE neon now include KDE Plasma 6 (which is under active development) but apps retooled/built using KDE Frameworks 6 (considered pre-alpha quality at the time of writing) are being more cautiously previewed, siloed in a dedicated archive. To be clear here: you can sample, test, and use KDE Plasma 6 in KDE neon Unstable builds without this archive (as I understand it). But if you want — and want is :sys_more_orange:

Definitivamente en #kdeneon encontré mi centro de gravedad...lo último de plasma con una base LTS muy estable.

He vuelto.

@usuarioimanol en el tema de hardware, como el que comentas, #KDEneon hará lo mismo que #UbuntuLTS, en el que se basa su kernel.

Este #ViernesDeEscritorio sí hay un cambio importante en mi #ThinkPad #T450: ahora funciona con #KDEneon y ha sido para bien, tengo la estabilidad de #UbuntuLTS con las últimas novedades de #KDEplasma.

La transición fue bastante limpia y rápida, digo que es importante porque no soy #DistroHooper, llevaba 10 años usando #Kubuntu.

Un dia despues (motivos de trabajo) les comparto mi #ViernesDeEscritorio de mi PC familiar. #KDENeon formidable, una pequeña update y listo.... sigue de fabula, es mas mejoro la cantidad de RAM de arranque...osea mejora con cada actualizacion. Sigo firme en plasma.

#foss people out there, what #linux distro do you use and why? Please note, this is not a distro bashing conversation. Rather, it's curiosity about other opinions and learning.

I've used #ubuntu #kubuntu or #kdeneon as daily driver for the past 14 years. Whilst I like neon, it doesn't play very nicely with Nvidia. Yes, I'm fully aware you can get it to work, but it's a pain in the ass and regularly breaks shortly after getting things somewhat working. At least that's my experience.

About ten years ago, I had a brief flirtation with #opensuse and the relationship ended badly. I still have a little trauma from that. I'm pretty sure it was all my fault, but never could figure out what I did wrong.

I've been very unimpressed with the direction that Canonical is taking and wanted to try something new. I tried an Arch based distro last autumn and really found the community too caustic to new people joining. Not to mention, I saw a lot fascist views inserted into comments and replies to other users. That was dropped quickly.

After New Year's, I decided to get crazy and installed #fedora. 😅 I know, I know, not really a big leap into the unknown, but I've never tried it before. I've been using it for almost 6 months now and it's ok. I don't like it and I don't dislike it. My biggest issue is that Xorg seems broken (and I cannot figure out why) and I can only use Wayland to login. Wayland is just not quite there for my workflow.

Oh, I should also mention. I'm one of those #kdeplasma nut cases.

Hoy #KDENeon me jugo una mala pasada, estando en clase y en medio de un control, se me congelo todo, solo se escuchaba el audio pero no salia imagen, perdi el control o al menos los ultimos 10 minutos del mismo. Estas son cosas que no me gustan ....tengo que ver algo que no falle en los momentos menos esperados.

Curiosamente me ha dado mucho gusto que se haya anunciado que habria openSUSE Leap 15.6, asi que creo que voy por ese camino hasta que salga debian 12 que a mi parecer sera el lanzamiento del año.

y tu? te ha fallado alguna vez tu distribucion en algun examen o clase virtual?

Ich hab es mir gezwungenermaßen zur Routine werden lassen, nach einem größeren Update meine meistgenutzten Programme durchzugehen, was kaputt ist oder größere #Änderungen hat.
Aktuell zwei Dinge gefunden, die mich schon wieder stören 😒
Bei #Kontact wurde die Übersichtsseite entfernt, also eigentlich kann man auswählen, dass bei Start des Programms diese Seite angezeigt werden soll. Das geht aber nicht, sondern das Programm setzt bei jedem Start willkürlich, welche Komponente angezeigt wird. 🙄 Ich fand diese Übersichtsseite für Termine, Aufgaben, Notizen etc sehr gut.
Und bei #Spectacle, dem Screenshot-Tool, wurden gleich mehrere Änderungen gemacht, so dass man erstmal wieder schauen muss, was wo welche Funktionen da sind.
Mal sehen, was ich noch so finde... bei Firefox hat es mal wieder die Spracheinstellungen ins Englische verändert... aber das kenn ich schon, ist jedesmal so.
Irgendwie hasse ich Updates.
Andererseits gibt es manchmal auch gute Dinge, die geändert werden.
