A Japanese-era building in Keelung’s Renai District. The characters underneath the gable (天方夜譚) are generally used to translate the title of ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ / ‘Arabian Nights’, and in a commercial setting seem most commonly associated with accommodation.

Interesting old building in Keelung’s Renai District - I’m guessing it’s Japanese-era, but poorly maintained, poorly renovated with yellow cladding, and now being progressively reclaimed by nature.
Taiwan is a tough environment for buildings at the best of times (typhoons, earthquakes, termites), and Keelung, with all its rain, would be particularly tough.
