1 followers · 25 posts · Server fosstodon.orgFinally got my 2nd #RaspberryPi4 this week. I use the first for #Docker containers and have been worried for a while of the first breaking! The day of arrival the power adapter failed on the first unit! A warning sign!
Now converted 80% to use #DockerSwarm with #NFS storage via my #QNAP #NAS and using #KeepAliveD tracking my #Traefik instance to move the VIP around. All good fun!
The NAS is Synched overnight to a 2nd NAS - I am considering setting up real time sync between the two!

This release contains a important fix: it could happen that link settings are not correctly applied while ifstate does not show any error. This happens when the kernel does not report any errors. One of this settings is the vlan_id for vlan links 😱
When running as #VRRP fifo script for #keepalived it is now possible to trigger a config reload by SIGHUP.
Updates are available for #AlpineLinux edge + 3.18.

These two load balancers have keepalived between them so if one goes down the other pics up the ip.. These front end 2 caddy instances also on different cluster memebers. So I'm about to start shutting down loadbalancers to see if things stay up!!
Looks like keepalived screws up some metrics that the lb can no longer see. Need to work on that.

Installed @Manjaro minimal and set static IP for each board.
Disable non-essential services.
Add #lvm and disks to each using USB to SATA cable.
Install #glusterfs, probe all servers, create a distributed replica volume and start it.
Add #keepalived for a virtual IP.
Install gluster-client on main PC, and mount volume using VIP.
Result - fault tolerant NAS
All that remains is to build a case for it and upgrade disks.

Zum Glück hat die #Fritzbox 4040 mittels #keepalived und #vrrp sofort die virtuelle IP für #DNS- und #RADIUS-Server übernommen.

63 followers · 2960 posts · Server social.tchncs.de@jackspeed Wir haben #keepalived damals nicht verglichen und ucarp hat unsere damaligen Bedürfnisse erfüllt. Leider geht es oob nicht mit IPv6. Da gibt es ein anderes Protokoll als Arp. Neighborhood Discovery heisst das und man müsste es wohl via IPv6 Tools manuell realisieren.
