Don't mention the war!
Just found this on a trawl through old folders. It's a pill box or rifle post from the second world war, still in place built into a garden bank on a junction in a small country lane near Farnham in Surrey.
This formed part of one of the defensive lines prepared across the south of England in case of German invasion.
Or it was possibly put there by an excessively assertive homeowner, who knows?
