The two towers above the original entrance to the Kelvin Hall in the west end of Glasgow topped with their distinctive bronze filigreed orbs. It was designed by Thomas P.M. Somers and was built in the 1920s.

The iconic Kelvin Hall in the west end of Glasgow. Built in the 1920s, it was designed by Thomas Somers. Over the years it has housed exhibitions, concerts, flower shows, circuses, carnivals, sports events, a roller rink and of course the city's transport museum.

The Kelvin Hall in the west end of Glasgow. Built as an exhibition hall in the 1920s from a design by Thomas P M Somers, it has served many functions over the years, including hosting the city's annual Christmas and New Year Carnival, housing the Transport Museum and as an international sports arena.

The Argyle Street Ash Tree, Finnieston, Glasgow.
This tree was accidently planted in 1850. This means it has been a feature of the west end of Glasgow for longer than the Kelvin Hall (1927), the Kelvingrove Art Gallery (1901), Glagsow University (which moved to its current location in 1870), and even Kelvingrove Park (1852).

I came across what sounds like it will be an interesting art installation being constructed at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow today. It's called a Listening Desk and it's by artist and composer Emily Peasgood. It's the first of ten that will be installed around the UK. I'm looking forward to seeing (or maybe that should be hearing) it in action once it's finished.
