Remembering Kenneth Jesse Tobey (1917-2002), the busy, dependable American film, stage and television actor, born in Oakland #OnThisDay. An authoritative screen presence, he had over 200 credits, but best remembered as the hero of classic monster movies #TheThingFromAnotherWorld (1951), #TheBeastFrom20000Fathoms (1953) and #ItCameFromBeneathTheSea (1956), alongside the underrated #TheVampire (1957) and, much later, assorted cameos for Joe Dante.
