Got new lenses, here is a picture of my old #pancorneal #contactlens. I wear these for medical, not aesthetic reasons. I have had two corneal transplants due to #keratoconus and these lenses are needed to correct vision afterwards.
Pancorneals have a larger diameter than normal RGP (rigid gas permeable) lenses to "bridge" over the cornea and correct astigmatism. #ophthalmology #eye #vision

I wear glasses. I had not had a corneal topography yet but must likely right eye has keratoconus, which pretty much rules lasik out.

Around 6-7 years ago I got pretty sad about that fact. It's not that bad. Corneal transplant, crosslinking, there are solutions.

WHAT I REALLY WANT ARE CYBORG EYES.

Forget about robo waifus (even though they would be great), I want my eye prosthetics. Night vision, a permanent clock there, augmented reality.

One can dream.

The typos I make after taking out my contact lenses are doing my head in. I love my scleral lenses, they've given me almost normal vision for literally the first time in my life, but it's definitely a nuisance that my vision doesn't "snap back" after taking them out. My glasses that I had before simply don't work right for at least 10 hours after taking the lenses out, so here I am almost typing blind.

@stella Similar experience to you. Both eyes needed a cataract after the transplant. There was already evidence of them before I started and the steroids only worsened them. I know surgeons have to be careful what they predict and a transplant is the last resort, but when it goes well, for me, the outcome for me is better than I have ever 'seen'. #keratoconus #cornea #transplant

If you have visual impairements, such as #keratoconus or any near sightedness conditions like me, I recomment using Whalebird as a #Mastodon desktop client

It really is personnalizable to a really deep level and I am able to make the characters reaaally big like at 19 and I was able to change the color of almost anything so I can make it to the color contrast I see the best.

I also set the font to one of my favorite, Arial.

If you're not visually impaired you will also like this app because it enables more personnalization than any other client on the market.
