Listening to #WayneShorter's ambitious suite, Emanon ('No name' backwards). Shorter, a practicing Buddhist, said he was "looking to express eternity in composition." The sense of eternity comes up in other works: Gary Burton & Chick Corea's Crystal Silence (the live version, with orchestra) & some of #KethJarrett's stuff. And especially in #AliceColtrane. Probably many more.
