Google is killing its Pixel Pass subscription less than 2 years after launch. The plan bundled a phone with YouTube Premium, Google One (200GB), Google Play Pass, and the promise of a new phone every 2 years for monthly fees ranging from $45 to $55. 70 followers · 200 posts · Server meh.socialThe fact that Google is opening up #podcasts to YouTube/YouTube Music means Google Podcasts isn't performing like they hoped, and is definitely one of their 'lets throw it at wall and see what sticks' efforts. Instead of the standalone podcast app model (eg. #ApplePodcasts), it looks like they are trying the all audio model (eg. #Spotify, #AmazonMusic).
I wonder which one will survive and what will be #killedbygoogle?

So far, probably the most noteworthy thing is Google Fit.
It's not on here. *At all.*
Fitbit, though, has a large, possibly even outsized presence, and tbh I chalk it up to the Fitbit acquisition - apparently, part of the purchase's restrictions placed on El Goog were that Fitbit and Google's data cannot touch each other, so El Goog is more or less quietly deprecating Fit in favor of Fitbit.
You can see this no better than in fit.google.com - it used to be a full dashboard and such synced from your phone. Nowadays? It's a page touting fit but with none of your data. No dashboard or anything.
Tbh I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it wound up in the #killedbygoogle pile sooner rather than later.
