98 followers · 349 posts · Server aus.socialThe six objects include two 16th-century bronze plaques stolen in 1897 from the royal palace in Benin City. By agreement 66 more objects will stay on loan at the Horniman Museum for 12 months, pending a second phase of repatriation.
Horniman chief executive Nick Merriman said, "The overwhelming consensus was that the objects had been looted."
This repatriation will increase pressure on the British Museum, which has so far refused to return objects in its collection.
