, also called the , is a distinctive member of Protea, having, apparently… the largest flower head in the genus.

The species is widely distributed in the southwestern and southern parts of South Africa.

This one was growing in abundance in on a busy road and Ive been observing it from a far for a week now.

It’s now perfect for a glorious photograph or two. So I didn’t waste this opportunity to share this beauty.
