Another model I plan to use as a standard for making paddles: The small spoon paddle. Kind of thick, about 18-19mm (which is too much for a full-sized paddle IMO, but you need the extra chonk to make this size still pack a wallop). Elm, rounded edges, finished in hard wax oil.

Just finished a delightful round of quality assurance on these paddles by blistering unicorn girl's cute backside thoroughly, and the verdicts are in:
Top one, 20mm thick: Too thick. Doesn't feel completely right, more like a cheese board that ended up in the toy box by accident
Bottom one, slightly longer handle, 15mm thick: Just right. Heavy, but not too heavy. Looks better, feels better, easier to swing.

Bottom model is going into production. Who wants one?

Unicorn girl coming over tonight. You might remember I taunted her about how I should have made two straps so she could be strapped from both sides at the same time. Well, I made these. But I never TOLD her I made them. Can't wait to see her face when I break these out.

Figure we'll tie her down on the bed, legs spread, bare ass lifted by some thick pillows, take up positions on either side and get to work. If I know her like I think I do, she'll hate it and absolutely love how much she hates it.

Made twin straps out of a piece of scrap leather that I glued up grain side out and cut into 45mm strips. Thickness is a mean-ass 8mm. Handle made from scots elm (left) and french walnut (right). Big laundry list of things to improve still, but I had fun making them and I suspect me and my wife will have even _more_ fun using them on unicorn girl next time she comes over.

Walnut was a lot easier to work with for this, but the grain pattern on that elm is just mesmerizing.

Trying to make a strap and I'm doing edge burnishing on the leather. It's my first time ever working with leather and it's... not going great, frankly, but at least I can see WHY it's not going great. The edges need to be smoother and more clearly beveled for the burnishing to yield the right result, and the cutting isn't precise enough. All this is down to needing better tools (an edge beveler and a more proper burnishing tool than my improvised DYI one for starters) and paying more attention to these steps. Also the glue work needs to be better, leather seems a lot less forgiving here.

This strap won't come out perfect, but I think functionally it'll be a great edition. It's two pieces of about 3mm leather glued together with the grain side out and about 5cm wide. It's stiff and pretty thick. Hoping for a thuddy kind of slap perfect for punishment-style play.

Finally managed to get hold of an electrician that'll come by in a couple of days to hopefully sort out the workshop-and-heat-inverter-share-a-fuse situation. So maybe we can get back to some #kinkycrafts again. Gonna try my hand and making a leather strap. Thinking walnut handle and some chicago screws to hold it together.

Ah heck, sleep isn't happening so let's do one more. Here's the paddle that got me into making paddles. Because our friend who visits us to get spanked told me, after an evening of me and my wife tag teaming to redden her butt, that she wanted a paddle of a certain type and size. And I went "alright, I'll make you one".
So I drew out a template using TinkerCad that seemed to look like what she meant, sketched it on a piece of 18mm thick akacia, jigsawed it out, sanded it like crazy and then finished with cutting board oil. And it worked GREAT. It's like a meaner version of a hairbrush, and she seems really happy with it. Except when it's in my hand and she's over my knee bawling, that is. Making this is what started the interest in making my own toys.

Getting that semi-matte surface was not easy. You have to use a lot finer grits than with wood, it's a very scratch-unforgiving material. I had to go up to 1000 grit paper to get the right feel, and then a plastic buffing paste applied with a cotton buffer drill disk. That and some patience gets you there.

Getting that roundness on the tip for the thickest one was fiddly, but worth it because of... other-than-impact uses. Either way I absolutely recommend rounding the tips to some extent, because given how hard and heavy this material is, you do NOT want sharp tips causing unpleasant damage.

Right, are we ready for some DIY delrin canes? Here are the prototype ones I've made so far, in thicknesses of 6mm, 8mm, 12mm and (the madman of the bunch) 20mm. The thinnest one I just made a wooden handle by drilling into a cheap piece of wood and supergluing it, for the rest I 3d-printed a custom handle and fixed it with a screw (which works well enough, but you kind of have to embrace the PLA roughness as a design feature).

Delrin fascinated me because the black looks cool, and its bendy but strong in a way that works well for a cane. It's also very cheap, the materials for these are more than about €1-€2 per cane.

They behave and feel like rattan canes when you use them, but they do NOT hit the same way. It's heavier and it's HARD in a way rattan isn't. Not everyone is going to like the sensation. The 20mm is just a straight-up baton, 100% thud.

One of the simplest spanking toys you can make with woodworking is The Naughty Stick. Just cut a strip of wood to about 3cm wide, then round all the edges, sand everything smooth and finish it with some oil. These are elm, finished with some tung oil. Made them different thicknesses, 10mm and 8mm, and I found the 8mm one to work better. Not too heavy, more like a turbocharged hand spanking.

Repost, but I wanted this paddle posted on this account to because I love it and I'm proud of it. Did a glueup of acajou, oak and teak to create this beautiful thing. It's about 40x8x1,5cm. Cut it out with a jigsaw, sanded it as rounded and smooth as I could and finished with hard wax oil.

It's not huge, but fairly heavy. The deep, slightly thuddy smack when it lands is amazing to listen to (as were the moans from the last person I was landing it on). I love using this thing, and I love that I made it.

Right, let's kick off with one of my simpler #kinkycrafts: My current profile picture.
Not much to this one, just a piece of 12mm thick teak that I sawed into a 30mm wide strip (dubbed "The Naughty Stick") and 60mm piece that I shaped into a paddle. Sanded until everything is smooth and rounded, finished with oil and they came out absolutely beautiful.

12mm isn't very thick, but teak is pretty dense so it has some bite. Quoting directly from a play partner while draped over my knee having just been spanked soundly with "The Naughty Stick":
Them: "I hate it! That thing should be illegal!"
Me: "Would you like to take it home with you?"
Them: "...yes."

The Big Friggin' Paddle: Because sometimes it's fun to go a little nuts. Not completely happy with this prototype as the holes are very unaligned and messy on the inside, but it does the job of skirting the line between scary looking and comically large. Made from a discarded worktop, this silly thing is 27mm thick pine with a 12cm width. Inspiration is That Scene from Dead Poets' Society. #woodworking #bdsmdiy #kinkycrafts

Alright, let's start posting some #kinkycrafts and see where we end up. Here's my favorite #paddle that I've made so far. About 80*400*16mm, combination of acajou, white oak and teak. Sanded with 320 grit and finished with some hard wax oil. It's on the severe side, but it's a delight to use. Lands with a heavy smack that sounds beautiful gives a nice combination of sting and thud. #woodworking #bdsmdiy
