“Given the rate at which the planet is warming, scientists predict that low-lying atolls across the Pacific region like Kiribati, Marshall Islands and Tuvalu could be uninhabitable this century, threatening the cultural legacy of the roughly 10 million people living there.
“It’s hard to swallow for Pacific Island nations that have contributed the least to the climate crisis, while rich countries continue to pump out planet-heating pollution.
“How much more science do we need to tell these countries that climate change is real? If we lose the Pacific Islands, it will have a great impact on the global community, because we are all connected.”
