Plans for a Rock and Roll museum in Kirriemuir have taken a step forward, after funding has been secured from the Scottish Government.
The success of the annual BonFest, named after Kirriemuir local and AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, has probably put the Angus town on the Rock map already. The museum would seem to be a natural year-round addition.

Barrie was born and grew up in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland.
His childhood home is owned by the NTS and is open to the public. It is well worth visiting. You can see the washhouse where Barrie and his siblings put on plays, foreshadowing his future career (though he was also a novellist).
When Barrie achieved his fortune he gifted a sports pavilion and camera obscura to his home town. They can also be visited.

AC/DC was formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973. The co-founders, and brothers, Malcolm & Angus Young were from Glasgow, Scotland, and lead singer Bon Scott was from Kirriemuir, Scotland.
George Young, older brother of Malcolm & Angus, had heard Scott was in a pipe band and he encouraged him to use bagpipes in AC/DC. The rest is history...
