One of my happier kitchen-and-garden hacks. Basil grows very well in Nagoya's hot summer weather. With the last of the year's crop ground into pesto and frozen in ice-cube trays, one cube defrosted, mixed with a serving of spaghetti and a splash of parmesan makes for a quick lunch on those days that need some corners cut.

tip from America's Test Kitchen for keeping your food warm without burning it. Though you might need a lot of cast iron pans depending on how much you need to keep warm on your stove.

Greens wilting in the fridge?

Give them a boost by putting them in a tall jar of water. They should perk right up!

So now that these broccoli rabe don’t look so sad any more, what shall I make with them?

The cheese scraper thingie (I have no knowledge of its official moniker) is the object of the most convenient kitchen hack known to man, one to solve a situation that only a very few of us would never have faced.

You know what it's like when you want a sammich but the butter's too hard to scrape and spread with a knife.

Use the cheese scraper thingie to slice off thin layers of butter.

Folks are always grateful for my
So here's one. Store your Instant Pot gasket on the top rack in your dishwasher. Silicone tends to absorb odors; I found that leaving it in the dishwasher neutralizes those odors while keeping it clean and out of the way
