It bugs my husband that I generally "wing it" when cooking for the family, but that's how it works when you've been cooking for a lot of people for a long time.

He bothers him because it means that a) he can't make the same "recipe" if he liked it, and b) there's a (IMO delightful -- I love the element of serendipity) lack of precision & consistency from one meal to the next.

I froze the pot liquid left over from InstantPot short ribs a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I defrosted it, added diced canned tomatoes (leftover from a couple of nights ago), a couple of sliced cremini mushrooms, a sliced carrot, and shredded green cabbage, plus water, and cooked it up. Result? Outstanding soup, truly superb. #Leftovers #KitchenMagic
