Coming from using #tmux and #vim to split windows, are there any recommendations for a similar #KittyTerminal setup? I only finally got around to configuring `map kitty_mod+enter launch --location=hsplit --cwd=current`, which does make splits easier

Instead, I spend the last 3 hours learning how to configure the kitty terminal and the newsboat RSS reader. Yep, a very productive day, if I must say so :coolcats:

I'm back to my workhorse #iTerm2 on #macOS. After a couple of days with #KittyTerminal I decided to go back. The reasons are the SSH handling and window placement and application chrome in general.

I really enjoyed Kitty and would like to give it another go once I change to Linux for my work OS (2023?).

Meanwhile, I will dig deeper into iTerm2's vast configuration options and optimize it as much as possible for my ongoing #neovim adventures. There are so many goodies hidden in that gem.

#KittyTerminal thank you Mike for sharing your tries. Is-it a real competitor for iTerm2?

I'm also on day three of my #KittyTerminal adventure.

Yesterday, I hit the first road bump. Kitty and SSH are not the best friends. Kitty is very opinionated when it comes to handling SSH and #term. You can get around most of this with going the Kitty way, but, sometimes it's just not possible, as you might not have the permissions Kitty expects for its solution.

The second problem is more a #macOS specific one. Kitty won't remember its position on the screen.

Let's see if I can fix that.

I'm such a sucker for good UI/UX and design, and these alternative #KittyTerminal icons are too cute. Especially the white cat on the ADM-3A terminal is too cute to resist.

I am halfway through the Kitty terminal docs, and I'm pretty sure I'll consider Kitty a replacement for #iterm.

Thursday morning, and I'm not working, but reading into and playing with #KittyTerminal.

I am a long-time user of #iTerm and like it, but I heard and read of fellow developers running on Kitty, so it's time to give it a try.

My first impression is very positive. Kitty uses so little resources, it does not even show up in my top 5 processes on #macOS when I run it.

The configuration is very granular and well commented. Best feature for me so far, a built-in TUI themes browser.

So many good-looking options here. Thank you everyone for the replies! I think I will try #Alacritty and #KittyTerminal first.

My #kittyterminal appears to have gone all gruvbox. Makes a change from my usual in your face blues, greens and yellows. Now it's much easier on the eyes.

Some new enhancement for my #Gnome environment.
I automated the full installation of #Nord theme + same colors on several components (#Ranger, #KittyTerminal...)

@wdavery #ranger has image preview rendering when paired with #kittyterminal and the dep #ueberzug

For those who have the "ugly" white title bar in #kittyterminal. Only add "linux_display_server x11" in "~/.config/kitty/kitty.conf" - the native title bar will be back.
