I wouldn't usually do this but That Works are the YouTube channel that helped start my interest in and . They got hacked recently and lost a bunch of subscribers, revenue and momentum. They're worth following if you're into that kind of thing.

YouTube is a terrible company and I wish it didn't exist. Alphabet and Google too, and the high switching costs involved in their platforms is precisely why these video makers have to struggle and suffer so hard. However whilst they're stuck there and there isn't the ability for them to find a true alternative, I invite you to support That Works in whatever way you can.

The eldest and I made some knife blades a couple of weeks back: proper blacksmithing, beating a steel bar into a blade with a tang. We now need to make some handles, we have some fairly substantial bits of hazel, but I'm lazy, so wanted a quicker, smaller option, and think they'd look good with deer antlers. Just looking for some advice on connecting them: do I need to drill them out, or can I just soften them through boiling, or something else?

Mocked up before final fit and assembly. Should have this ready for the client in a few more days.

More ongoing work. Due to the weather and the fact that the workshop still isn't finished, I am finishing this piece and a few others the old way, with a file and sand paper.

Planning out some promotional pieces and a few pieces to go into regular "production" this year. All very roughly sketched out, but it let's me develop a plan and get the ideas out of my head and on paper.

Today we fired up the forges to make sure they worked properly, and was sent home with some satanite clay to do the last to coats on the inside. Was also asked to do some name drops for the class.

May add another post with all the name drop and recommended vendors in a but.

Here is another new one! I hand forged this chef's knife from a LaBelle farriers rasp, then ground and polished it. It has a Juma, Green Mamba hilt and a satin finished brass bolster.

Étrangement satisfaisant : le moment ou metal et bois se révèlent au le premier ponçage.
