Random #DemonSlayer thought of the day on my rewatch.
Tengen Uzui is the "pinnacle" of masculinity (I don't want to count the number of times you hear him referred to as a GigaChad which 😒…) and in that peak, he has three beautiful wives and is consistently portrayed as a winner, because being an extremely strong Hashira is consistent with his masculinity.
Mitsuri Kanroji is a pinnacle too: of femininity. She's soft and bubbly with a high pitched voice and a glorious feminine figure. But for her, being a strong Hashira is completely against femininity and thus we see her lose out on a husband. Because being strong and having a healthy appetite and saving people's lives the way she does is not how women are supposed to be.
And we get to see both of them, see how incredible they are at their craft. Mitsuri's being a Hashira is as impressive as Tengen’s. They both save lives, we get to see them both save the world.
I love that for them, that as Hashira, they are revered and amazing. Equals. It tells us about society, seeing these two wonderful people and how they are treated by the outside world, and I love that about Demon Slayer.
