Huh, managed to tear my smooth fabric #NoneCircles gi top in #DaitoRyu today (hip throws). Lasted a couple of years. I prefer smooth fabric to the rough rice weave ones you usually see in #aikido and #judo tops. This one was marketed for aikido but I have a feeling the fabric might be from a heavy karate top. Sorry @karatejukka, I might have to use some rougher top for #kobujutsu now…

#sai versus #bo (stick) is often finished with a move like this, by utilising both of them.
The #training of #kobujutsu or #karatewithweapons is about getting a grip of the #bo first, followed by #sai.
Today begins the new beginners course in #espoo #finland, in the school of #haukilahti at 20:00 (in about two hours from now)

Training can happen in other places, not just in the gym or school gymnasium where we are most often, but #training can take place inside a dungeon of #suomenlinna #helsinki or on top of a mountain in #slovenia.

Training of #karatewithweapons in #espoo #finland looks something like this, at least when the program includes #shujinokonkoshiki #kata.

#karate has weapons, but most often the art is called #kobujutsu, and in this case the weapon used is called #bo, a long stick.

Should finally do my #introduction.

I've been in and around tech since 7, when I started programming as a kid living in Northern Ireland (now in Finland). The sheer magic of creating a world from a blank screen was like nothing else. Since then I've founded several companies and organisations including banking disruptor Holvi, the new computer OS Solu, and now Attractive.ai.

Beyond that I enjoy writing and am 1st kyu in #aikido, with some Daito Ryu, #iaido and #kobujutsu in the mix.
