Interesting experiment yesterday: same beer by same brewery (Caramel Fudge Stout by #Kompaan 🇳🇱), but one "as is" and one "barrel aged" (Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels). The former was well-balanced and stoutish, but the B/A version was too strongly influenced by the whiskey flavors IMHO, actually making the entire beer very one-dimensional compared with the original.

I've said it before: if not done RIGHT, the barrel aging fad will turn out to be a dead end.
