I can't express how happy I was to see one of these here, still alive, a full-grown adult (the size of my hand, fingers spread)! 🤩🥰 Perisesarma bidens, the Red-Clawed Mangrove Crab. Since they're an endangered species where I live, I'm keeping its whereabouts secret. 🦀🙏 The local wildlife department is aware of this particular population. ☺️ We had these where I lived in southern Hiroshima. Sometimes the babies would hide in our entranceway during storms! 😁

Wow. Living in this town is really interesting! Whenever the weather is expected to get rough, even if it's minutes away, a blasted message from County Hall echoes throughout the land saying to prepare. I feel lucky. Not every community gets this kind of care from the top!

Our county's EAS loudspeakers just blasted weather warnings throughout the peninsula, telling farmers & fishermen to prepare for what's coming. Looking at the doplar maps, I'm skeptical. But the moist heat in the air says we might get some rain out of it. Our spring drought ended last month but we can certainly use more rain.

A new butterfly sighting for me! 😀 This lovely is called a 'Chinese windmill' (Byasa alcinous). The lilacs are already blooming in Yesan County. I'm going to stop saying things like "they're too early," because we have to learn to accept change.
