When the payload reaches the apogee at the GEO altitude of 35,786 km, it fires its engines in such a way that it enters onto the circular GEO orbit and stays there.

Im Juni 2003 startete die erste europäische Mission zur Erforschung eines anderen Planeten im Sonnensystem aus #Kourou. 🚀 Seitdem liefert die DLR-Kamera HRSC an Bord der ESA-Raumsonde hochpräzise Bilder von der #Mars-Oberfläche.

Zum Jubiläum präsentieren wir ein globales Mosaik des Mars, das in seiner Genauigkeit der Farben beispiellos ist. 🔴 Das Bild ist eine Kombination aus 90 HRSC-Aufnahmen aus 2.500 km Höhe.
